Books and Design
Every once and a while I love to feature local artists, entrepreneurs and design savvy people. So today I wanted to feature the home of illustrator Majd Soudi. When I came across her small apartment I was so inspired by how well she utilized the space and made it look and feel not only comfy but beautifully decorated as well. Take a look at her stylish place...
and here are some of her fabulous and inventive illustrations...
You can find her wonderful work here as well as links to her blog, and where to buy her books

You regulars on here know that I have a love of books, more like a love affair with books, so here are some of my newest additions...
I have a few more ordered and just waiting for them to arrive! Merry Christmas to me ;)
Books,Bowls and Ballet Flats
You fabulous regular readers of this blog, know that I love books and that I have quite an extensive collection from my University days as a Lit major!! I never ever throw out books...I have donated some and given others away to friends, honestly what am I going to do with a Geology book? (it was a distribution credit okay, don't judge!) However, lately I've been collecting great photography books and coffee table books that I can pull out for inspiration whenever I please.
So take a look at some of the newbies I've added to my collection:
So take a look at some of the newbies I've added to my collection:
added: The Here and Now & New York Lookbook, both from HomeSense
added: Metamorphosis also a HomeSense find!
ballet flats: Old Navy, I couldn't resist!
added: Taschen's Paris (the large green one) This one came from Chapters online
1st pic: a beautiful bowl from none other than HomeSense,
it says made in Japan! cute don't you think?
On my list: Paris Books
I have a great obsession with Paris, the last time I was there was 2008 and I can't wait to go back! I bought some beautiful books there from various museums and street markets and since going I always try and add more to my collection. Here are two books I just ordered from Chapters...
Anyone have some great books about Paris to recommend? Whether fiction or photo books?

Know Your Antiques
I went on a recent visit to my grandparents house and what a lucky duck I was, my grandfather gifted me this neat old book! Now I have no excuse when I go antique shopping, there is a ton of great information in here. Plus it's another great one to add to my growing collection. I also got these cute petal compotes from a bridal shower I recently attended (they are part of a set of two) which were filled with lots of candies and sweets as the theme of the shower was candy, and as you can see the compote is now empty... so you get the idea! I guess it's been a very SWEET week for me!
Books
I gradutaed from University with a specialist degree in English, so I have had to read a lot of books over the years. I am in love with the english language and have always been an avid reader for as long as I could remember. My collection in quite extensive, especially my english literature books. I have so many books that I actually ran out of places to put them all, so I have some stored in the basement "storage room" (really a room to store junk) but no matter how much space I run out of I still have this horrible habit of buying more books.
Seriously, it is so hard for me to walk away from a great book. Forget Chapters, I have had to forego visiting in person because I end up putting quite a dent in my wallet, although I have just started ordering from them online. I also love to thrift shop and I find a great number of my most beloved books from second hand shops around the city. I picked up a few things from my neighbourhood Value Village and received some of my online Chapters orders in the mail...take a look.

a personal fav, my vintage copy of my favourite Shakespearean play Romeo & Juliet, plus my new candelabra that says made in Italy
For those of you who love books as much as I do, I want to recommend a little store on the Danforth called Re:Reading where I am sure you will find some great books, they have a vast collection and a section of rare and collectibles. You can also take a load off and sit in their comfy couches at the front of the store to do a little what else... reading!
